Touch a phone to a tag, the tag answers, something happens. A phone call, an SMS, a URL. [Near Field Communication](http://technology.guardian.co.uk/online/story/0,3605,1260978,00.html) is the radio inside an Oyster card, brought into a handset that can also write to tags as well as read them.

*Touch* is a research project on what designers should do with this, run with the [Oslo School of Architecture and Design](http://www.aho.no/) and the [Research Council of Norway](http://www.forskningsradet.no). We have been [setting it up](https://nearfieldarchive.org/) since March 2006. The ongoing process lives on the [project weblog](https://nearfieldarchive.org/) ([RSS](http://feeds.feedburner.com/nearfield)).
