Summing up some of these ideas:
- The best approach for creating multi-channel artworks is to use each medium for its best qualities.
- TV and film are rich and engaging, so it is here that we have the luscious visuals, the emotional voiceovers, and the compelling linear narratives.
- The web is a fantastic medium for community, feedback, researching and information retrieval.
- Some of the most successful ways of making artwork on the web is to subvert the common themes, introducing other elements into otherwise normal pages.
- If possible, use many different channels to create a rich and diverse experience.
- The network is not just limited to the computer screen.
Notes
Many film companies and television stations now operate online services that back up and extend the broadcast medium. This can be successful, but the confusion between providing information and providing an alternative experience often creates very poor multi-channel work.
