This lecture covers some specific ideas that are aimed at traditional designers or filmmakers that want to make narratives involving user/audience interaction.
It was first given at Channel 4 in London, to filmmakers on the digital animation Mesh Scheme.
Mesh is a digital animation scheme in its second year, that seeks to make work that spans both broadcast and interactive media.
The mesh mission statement from the website on 10th February:
- Mesh seeks to encourage not only narrative digital animation but also to develop interactive animation stories for the web.
This means:
- creating linear narratives for a cinema & television audience
and
- creating work that benefits from user interaction
- creating work that takes advantage of the network
- discovering a new context for the work
